Parole jumper arrested with accomplice in drug case in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, February 19, 2024: Under the campaign going on against drug smugglers, parole jumpers and proclaimed offenders, efforts are being made, to completely curb the incidents by anti-social elements, in the district by forming the special committees under the tutelage of senior officers while working actively in the district and the Ferozepour police got success in nabbing one parole jumper and his accomplice working as drug smugglers, with the recovery of drugs, drug money, motorcycle and mobiles, said Somiya Mishra, SSP.
The parole laws are progressive measures for the betterment of the prisoners but in most cases, the criminals on parole do not report back in the jail and jump to the criminal world and go underground.
Randhir Kumar, SP(Investigation) holding a press meet today said, Davinder Singh, SI under the supervision of Rajesh Kumar, DSP (Rural) and Balkar Singh DSP(I), while patrolling when reached near T-Point village Kada Boda, two motorcycle-borne youths were asked to stop but they tried to turn around but the cops on duty nabbed them. Later, they were identified as Nachhatar of Mallanwala and Jagga of Sodhi Nagar in Ferozepur. On searching in the presence of DSPs, 960 habit-forming drugs, Rs.3,02,700 drug money, 2 mobiles and one motorcycle were recovered from them.
He said, both the accused – Nachhatar Singh and Jagga – have been booked under the NDPS Act and will be produced in the court for remand for further investigations and more important clues are likely to be on the surface.
SP further said, on scrutiny of the record, it has come to the fore that Nachhatar Singh has a criminal background and facing 10 cases under NDPS, Prisons and Arms Acts at Ghall Khurd, Ferozepur, Kulgarhi, Rajasthan and Talwandi Bhai police stations, during years 2010, 2016, 2017, 202, 2021, 2023 and 2025. Similarly, Jagga too was wanted in four cases registered under NDPS Act at Mallanwala, and Jagraon during the years 2017, 20220, 2022 and 2023.
The team is investigating the matter with a special focus on cracking the nexus of suppliers, by using drug money. We have identified the hotspot and CASO operations are also being conducted to identify the properties of the accused and if found constructed from drug money, the same will also be attached from the Competent Authority.
