Pak govt recognizes Bhai Ram Singh famous and well-known designer and master craftsman
Lahore/Ferozepur, July 15, 2021: On the request of Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan, the Pakistan government has recognized the services of Bhai Ram Singh (1858-1916) famous and well-known designer and master craftsman by fixing the nameplate at Lahore Museum Mall Road and NCA College, Lahore.
Bhai Ram Singh was one of the pre-partition Punjab’s foremost architects dominating the scene for nearly two decades from the 1890s. Amongst his works is the Durbar Room, Osborne House, on the Isle of Wight, England; Lahore Museum, May School of Arts, Chamba House and Punjab University, all in Lahore and Governor’s House in Simla. Ram was mainly an engineer and contractor but is sometimes given credit as the architect of his buildings.
Qureshi said, this step of the government is highly commendable and there is a message from the government of Pakistan to the whole world that they respect of Designer & Master Craftsmen as such persons do not belong to any particular religion and part of the society.
He said, we have also approached the government to name Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk and shortly the stone on this account will also be installed shortly.
