Pak based Foundation to remember Bhagat Singh on his 91st Martyrdom Day
Ferozepur, March 10, 2022: Recalling the noble ideals of Bhagat Singh, Pakistan based Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan Chairman Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi said, we will pay rich tributes to Bhagat Singh and his associates – Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru – on March 23, 2022, on 91st Martyrdom Day.
Bhagat Singh and his associate Shivaram Rajguru shot a 21-year-old police officer, John Saunders, in December 1928. However, their main intention was to assassinate James Scott. They believed that Scott was the main figure behind Lala Lajpat Rai’s death. Lajpat Rai was one of the prominent freedom fighters who died after succumbing to the injuries he underwent after a British battalion allegedly led by Scott lathi-charged the protesters.
Added here, Qureshi is already fighting with the Pakistan government and court of law to prove the innocence of Bhagat Singh as his name did not appear in the FIR on the basis of which execution was carried out and renaming the Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk.
Born in 1907, Singh was only 23 when he was executed by the British in 1931. His idealism coupled with his sacrifice made him a folk hero and an inspiration for many.
We will pay rich floral tributes to martyrs on March 23 at Shadman Chowk (Lahore) and lit candles to memorize the sacrifice of martyrs.
Qureshi said Bhagat Singh lives in the heart of every Indian and Pakistan as well. He said the courageous sacrifice ignited the spark of patriotism among countless people.
Qureshi said, it looks as if Shaheed is saying to us – See, our sacrifice is not forgotten.
