One-day workshop organized at border village Gatti Rajo Ke in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 6, 2017:  The Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth – C-PYTE –imparting training free of cost, to enable misguided youths affected by drug-addiction and alcoholism to use their energy into useful activities by getting  entry in the Army and also to pass on them technical education.

With this unique initiative of the government, a one-day workshop was arranged in the border town Govt. Sr. Sec. School Gatti Rajo Ke with a special focus at preventing he Punjabi youth from going wayward in life and encouraging them to tread the right track. 

 

The centre of excellence of training of C-PYTE lies with the group of camps at 13 locations in the state like – Theh Kanjla in Kapurthala, Faridkot, Ludiana, Nabha, Lalru, Ferozepur and Girls Campus at Mansa and Kairon which are primarily geared to train the youth of Punjab. The scheme was launched in 1990 inspires and encourages the youth to upgrade their skills in various occupations and join the national mainstream.

The workshop was attended by more than 150 youths of 12 border villages, said Major Amarjit Singh, Office in-charge, C-PYTE School at Hakumat Singh Wala in Ferozepur district.

The students were conveyed the important information about the basis requirements of physical test and clearance of written test for joining the C-PYTE and the facilities available at the centre by Major Amarjit Singh.  

 

He said, the facility of training is available free of any charges with availability of lodging and boarding arrangements. He added that there are proper arrangements on the campus to provide facilities to under trainees.

 

He further said, besides these there is big classroom, separate building for the staff, cook house and arrangements for providing recreational activities to the students. In addition, the youths are also motivated to opt for self employment ventures, he added.  

When contacted Major Amarjit Singh, he said, the centre in Ferozepur situated on Ferozepur-Zira road, 22 KMs from Ferozepur,  was started in 2015 on shifting from Jalalabad. There are 170 students presently extending training at the centre at Hakumat Singh Wala and around 100 are expected to clear the test at the Army recruitment rally on October 29 at Ferozepur.

He further shared that more than 70 per cent of the students who get training at the centre, clear the physical and written tests by the Army.

Every year, around 7000-8000 youth get free of cost training and over 60 per cent of them successfully take up jobs in India and abroad, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Satinder Singh, Principal, GSS Gatti Rajo Ke said, the youths of border villages who are close to the international border and watch the army activities very closely, had shown their interest to serve the country by joining the Army but they are not aware of the facilities like C-PYTE training centers established by the government.  Because of not having proper guidance after passing out the schooling up to the level of Plus Two, the youths of border area cannot achieve their goal of joining the Army and there is a increase in the unemployment graph, he said.

The intention behind organizing the workshop was to put wiser the youths of the border areas which will definitely be beneficial to them in pursuing their joining the Army, said Dr.Satinder Singh.
