On Valmiki Jayanti, SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme launched in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 31, 2020: The direct relay of virtual event of online launching of Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, to facilitate SC students for pursuing higher education in government and private institutions, by Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh on the auspicious occasion of Parkash Parv of Bhagwant Valmiki Ji, from Shri RamTirath Amritsar Sahib was witnessed by the people at different stations in the State with participation of Cabinet Ministers, and MLAs.
The Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, laid the foundation stone of the works of more than Rs.50 crore at Shri Ram Tirath where panorama will be constructed depicting the principles of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji. He also launched the SC post-matric scholarship scheme which will help the students to achieve higher education.
Deputy Commissioner, Gurpal Singh Chahal said, under this scheme, students will be given scholarships by the government for education after matriculation and the Punjab government will spend Rs.550 crore on this account and more than 3 lakh SC will be benefit from this scheme.
He said that the Chief Minister had increased the income limit of parents availing the benefits of this scheme, from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.4 lakh and the students in government private educational institutions could gain from this scheme. On this occasion, DC Ferozepur handed over certificates to five students under the Dr.Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship for SC Scheme.
On this occasion, S. D. M. Amit Gupta, Congress leader Harinder Singh Khosa, Sukhjit Singh, Balbir Bath, Prince Bhau, Jagjit Singh and others were present.
