On fourth consecutive day, recovery of mobiles from jail inmates continues
Ferozepur, March 31,2021: The recovery of mobiles from the jail inmates continued for the fourth consecutive day, on Wednesday, despite vigil and smuggling in banned items has put a question mark on the authorities.
Earlier during the last three days, 8 mobiles – five on Sunday, two on Monday, one on Tuesday – were recovered from the jail inmates and in one packet thrown from the high rising walls from outside. Due to the closeness of roads and buildings, it is easy to throw items like mobile phones and drugs inside the jail. Even some time back, the jail official was caught carrying the banned items for some inmate on reference from his relatives.
In the absence of shortage of staff, the continued raids can only check the problem, said jail official.
As per the information, one mobile of Samsung brand with SIM Card of Airtel Company was recovered during the patrolling inside the jail campus by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent, during the search operation. The prisoner has been identified as Neeraj of Amritsar, lodged in Ferozepur jail and booked under Section 52-A (1) of Prisons Act.
