Ferozepur, July 25, 2017: The transport department in Punjab has now made it easy for getting driving licence and registration certificate of new vehicle by applying online while sitting at home.
The team of NIC – National Informative Centre – today imparted training to the staff of DTO and SDM officials to operate the new version of Web Sarathi and Web Vahan 4.0 under the tutelage of Gurnam Singh, ADTO.
He informed that now anyone can download the required documents from the website to apply for driving licence by adding the photo copy of identity and medical certificate. The applicant will be issued a code number and on presenting the same at Automated Driving Test Track, he will be to driving test.
With these arrangements, the driving licence aspirant has not be visit the DTO or SDM offices number of times, he added.
In this way, the entire record of vehicles in the new version of Web 4.0 is being done online across the country and can be viewed online of any state. In addition, the police will also get enough facility to catch a stolen vehicle with this new web version. The new Web version 4.0 will prove to be helpful in finding any vehicle number and its record, he added.
There has been a lot of revolutionary changes in the transport department for the last few years and all the activities are being done gradually online. Vehicle RCs were first made after applying in DTO Offices but after 2012, automobile agencies were given the authority of RC to the manufacturer of the vehicle under Web 1.0 software but with the introduction of the web 4.0, the manual work would also end. The manufacturer could only sell the vehicle only which have been received by them with engine numbers and chassis numbers.
In reply to the question, he said, the new system would not only ensure the integrity of the online services but would also prevent the creation of duplicate licences.
On this occasion, Mohit Joshi, Atinder Pal Singh, Mohinder Singh and Narayanbir Singh Project Coordinator of NIC team were especially present.
