Netta D’Souza, Punjab Incharge presides over Mahila Congress Meet in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, August 27, 2016 : Despite torrential rain in Ferozpeur since morning, the Mahila Congress Meet was held at local M.K.Palace, Ferozepur Cantt which could not shatter the spirits of the workers and was attended in thousands besides male Congress leaders and workers.

The Chief Guests and key-note speakers at the Mahila Congress Meet were – Netta D’Souza, Punjab Incharge Mahila Congress, Mamta Dutta, State President, Satkar Kaur, District President, Parpreet Kaur, General Secretary, All India Mahila Congress, Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa, District Congress President.

Parpreet Kaur, General Secretary, All India Mahila Congress said, With your over whelming response despite heavy rain today, clearly itself speak that Akalis should stay at home and it’s Congress party wave now.  She asked the Akalis, pointing out the slogan “Proud to be an Akali” floated by the party that as to of what they are proud of – drugs, corruption, suicide by farmers and unemployment?

Speaking on this occasion, Mamta Dutta, State President said, the Akalis have benefitted themselves instead of helping the common man of the State rather they have ruined the Golden Punjab.  Attacking on Akalis, she said, Punjab is mourning not only because of the present atrocities but remembering the hey days during the Captain’s tenure.

She further said, Women form a core support base for Congress to make the Mission-2017 a successful and we need their participation and active involvement.

Satkar Kaur, District President Mahila Congress welcoming the huge gathering of women at the Congress Mahila Meet said, Ferozepur being a border district is highly drug prone and only mother, sister, wife can better understand the plight of the male members of families trapped in drugs.

Pointing out as to what the Akalis have done to ensure safety and empowerment of women, she said, the recent rape case of a 4 year old was blindly ignored by the Akali government. She appealed that the accused should be arrested immediately.
