Murder of Reporter’s brother: Press Club Ferozepur lifts dharna on assurance from SSP
Ferozepur June 27, 2018: The third-day dharna by members of the Press Club Ferozepur to arrest the accused in the murder case of Girdhari Lal, JE PSEB – brother of Bobby Khurana, FASTWAY Reporter was lifted today from Rail Over Bridge, which connects the Ferozepur City and Cantonment, on assurance from SSP.
Earlier the dharna was given in the office of SSP followed by second-day dharna by blocking the National Highway – Ferozepur Moga road at Sher Shah Wali Chowk.
The members of Press from Faridkot, Moga and Bathinda districts, the local Press Clubs of the district participated in the dharna to support the demand.
It is pertinent to mention that Girdhari Lal working in PSEB as JE was murdered and video graphics declaration was given by him but none of the accused has been arrested so far by the police, despite the passing of more than two months’ time. Not only this, the Section 302 was also converted into Section 306 IPC in the investigation without giving any opportunity to the victim’s family.
Today, SSP Ferozepur, Pritam Singh visited the dharna site along with the SDM Harjit Singh Sandhu and gave assurance to arrest all the accused by Sunday and have a meeting with the Press Club members on Monday.
He also agreed the other two demands put forth by Mandeep Kumar, President Press Club, Ferozepur, first, the victim’s family be given another opportunity to produce any other evidence for changing the IPC Sections in the FIR and second, none of the Press Reporter is booked in any case without taking into confidence the Press Club office bearers.
