Mockery of rules to regularize employees in Education Department, PERC demands EduMin’s intervention
The rules for regularization of recruitments made on contract basis from time to time in Education Department has become a mockery, said Hans Raj, spokesperson of Punjab Education Reforms Committee.
As per the sources, during 2007, 9998 teaching fellows were recruited by Akali-BJP sworn alliance government and on completion of three years, all the teachers were regularized. After this, in 2011, 7654 teachers were recruited and all were regularized from April 6, 2014. Earlier in 2006, all the teachers of second and third counseling were given seniority from one date but 3442 teachers, who were recruited during December, 2012, were issued appointment letters subjectwise, on different dates intentionally but in the appointment letter a condition was put that they will be regularized on completion of three years’ service.
Archna Rani, President of Fazilka District informed that when the remaining teachers could be regularized from the date of appointment, they as to why there is discrimination for others by issuing them appointment in peace-meal intentionally.
Rohit Kakkar said, the first appointment letter was issued on December 29, 2012 but few appointment letters were issued after 8-9 months of certain subjects, for which the department is responsible but the government is showing discrimination at the time of regularization.
Hans Raj, spokesperson of Punjab Education Reforms Committee (PERC) demanding the intervention of Education Minister said, the education department is already in litigation on the subject in the various courts and it would be better if all the 342 teachers are also regularized from one date to avoid any further fruitless wandering on both the parts – Education Department and Teachers.
