Mobiles in search operations, banned items recovery in 11 throws from Central Jail in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 21, 2023:  Hardly there is any day when the alert Jail staff is not recovering the mobiles and other banned items from the prisoners or lying unclaimed or thrown in the packets from outside over the high walls.

The security inside and outside the jail premises needs to be tightened due to the frequent recovery of mobiles during the search operations and the throwing of packets over the high walls otherwise continuing jail inmates in contact with the outside world is not free from a social point of view for keeping them behind the bars as punishment and criminal and illegal activities by the active criminals.

However, in the meantime, the total recovery of around 462 mobiles during the year from inside the jail, though with the help of inputs and alert staff, is not a small figure rather needs serious actions to plug the loopholes in entry points.

During the recent search operation on October 21 carried out by Sarabjit Singh and Nirmaljit Singh, Assistant Superintendents Central Jail, four under-trial prisoners – Gurnam Singh, Rameshwar, Jaspreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and one prisoner Balwinder Singh, has been booked for recovery of 2 mobiles and 0.45 gm heroin.

In a search operation on October 21, one mobile was recovered on a tip-off with a battery but without SIM cards from under-trial prisoner Aalmdeep Singh while the other lying unclaimed.   In the second incident of throwing 11 packets in the morning hours, containing banned items like 116 ‘zarda’ sachets, 7 packs of ‘cheni kheni’, 14 packets ‘bidis’, 3 lighters, 2 packs of cigarettes and 2 lose ‘zarda’ sachets.

The cases have been registered against prisoners, under trial prisoners, and unidentified persons under Section 52-A Prisons Act and further investigations are on.
