Mobiles and drugs found from inside Central Jail
Ferozepur, March 29, 2021: On the second consecutive day, one packet containing 5 mobiles and some drugs, said to be thrown from outside the high-walls of jails, was recovered.
In fact, the several old residential houses and commercial establishments coming up in the vicinity, due to handing over the vacant land under the Optimum Utilization of Vacant Land – OUVGL, pose a threat to the security of Central Jail which houses more than 1200 inmates including notorious criminals. Due to the closeness of roads and buildings, it is easy to throw items like mobile phones and drugs inside the jail.
On Monday, during the routine patrolling inside the jail by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent along with the security staff one packet was found between tower number 5 and 6, and on opening five mobiles and around 35 grams of habit-forming powder was found. Further investigations are on after the registration of a case against an unidentified person under the Prisons Act, with the appointment of IO Sukhchain Singh.
