Mobiles and banned items recovered from four packets thrown in Ferozepur Jail
Ferozepur, December 22, 2022: During the search operation and from the four packets thrown inside the jail over the high walls, 7 mobiles and other banned items have been recovered.
Regular recovery of mobiles and other banned items has exposed the security arrangements of the jail at the entry points. During the previous years, 87 mobiles in 2017, 70 in 2019, 130 in 2019 265 I 2021 and more than 400 during 2022 have been recovered.
As per the details, during the search operation of block number 2, barrack number 4 on December 21, one mobile with battery and SIM card was recovered. Another one mobile each was recovered with battery and SIM card from under trial prisoner Sukhjinder Singh and Mintu during the sudden checking from barrack number 3 and 4. Apart from this three more mobiles three with battery and SIM cards and one without SIM card was recovered as unclaimed. Similarly, from the four packets thrown from outside in the jail, one mobile with battery and SIM card and 23 sachets of ‘zarda’, two packets of cigarettes, one extra mobile battery, one charger and one data cable.
Meanwhile, a case under Sections 42, 52-A of Prisons Act has been registered against the under trial prisoners Sukhjiner Singh of Bhikhiwind and Mintu of Jama Rakhia (Mamdot), already in jail, besides unidentified persons for unclaimed recovery and throw of packets.
However, the extra guards have been deployed inside and outside the jail to put a check on the throw of packets from outside, said jail official.
