Minor’s rape triggers violent protest in Guruharsahai, accused at large
Ferozepur August 26, 2018: In the case of a 7-year-old minor girl in Guruharsahai has sparked massive protests in the town.
In a case that came to light, the minor girl was allegedly raped by a 50-year-old man at village Mohan Ke Hittar.
The police had registered a case and the accused has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act – POSCO Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act – CFAA, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) – SC and ST Act and raids are being conducted to nab the accused.
In a statement to the police, Baldev Singh son of Surjit Singh while recording his statement informed that 7-year-old minor girl – who was at his place when the local shopkeeper Rajesh Dharan alias Bittu Dhawan raped with her by influencing after offering toffees – sweets when she had gone to buy something.
The minor girl was medically examined by the doctors at Ferozepur Civil Hospital immediately by SI Shimla Rani and ASI Darshan Singh, said Jasvir Singh DSP.
The shop where the rape incident took place has been sealed beside seizure of goods used for committing rape, he added.
The local citizens expressed their resentment and triggered violent protest over the incident outside the police station and demanded immediate arrest of the accused and strict punishment.
