MC Elections Ferozepur : Polling starts at booth at scheduled time 8 AM

Adequate arrangements during poll process seen during visit to booths

Ferozepur, February 24 : The polling for Municipal Council elections at all the 31 wards in Ferozepur started at the scheduled time at 8 AM today.
A visit to the few polling station revealed that all arrangements have been made adequately including deployment of sufficient force to maintain law and order.
Reporters of various media house were seen – Mr.Chawla and Mr.Tiwari, Ferozepur Online, Ferozepur Darshan Mr.Dido, Babushahi.com, Merinews, Diwan Chand, Malwa Sandesh, and Chardi Kala – covering the election process at certain booths, for their respective papers.
In the early time, there was a great enthusiasm among the voters especially the businessman, who wanted to be free before going to their shops.
There are 31 wards including 8 reserved for women, in Ferozepur and the main contestants are Akali-BJP, Congress and Independent candidates. The registed voters are 73,121 – 38202 male and 34819 females. Two candidates from Ward No.13 Mandeep Kaur of BJP and 21 Charanjit Kaur of SAD, have already been declared elected as unopposed.
In the remaining 29 wards, 247 candidates are in race, whose voting data will be stored in the EVMs and the results are expected to come late in the evening.
Besides Election Observer Manjit Singh Narang, one police officers have also been appointed as Observers in the district to ensure an impartial and fair elections and to upkeep law and order.
