Ferozepur, February 19 : The Punjab and High Court on a petition by Congress candidates have given another date to produce the original record pertaining to Guharsahai MC polls.
The Congress candidates who could not file their nominations are seeking to re-notify the elections accusing the RO of refusing to accept their nominations due to the expiry of deadline.
The petition by Aneesh Kumar and other petitioners initially came up for hearing on February 18 when Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal and Sneh Prashar had issued notice of motion for Thursday. The Bench also directed the respondents to produce the original record for the court’s perusal. But the hearing was adjourned as the record was not available.
Earlier, Rana Sodhi Congress MLA from Guruharsahai have alleged that Akali-BJP leaders and supporters are hand in glove with the government as Congress candidates were not allowed to file their papers.
The RO on Wednesday declared 12 Akali and three BJP candidates as winners. They are BJP’s Amandeep Girdhar, Rekha Rani and Sikandar Singh and SAD’s Rohit Kumar Vohra, Prem Kumar, Rajinder Kaur, Sikandar Singh, Parveen, Raj Kumar, Hans Raj, Gulshan Kujmar, Pankaj Kumar, Monika Rani, Summitra Rani and Varinder Kumar.
