MC Elections Ferozepur: Congress candidates from Guruharsahai move High Court for not accepting nominations
SAD alleged Congress not interested to contest due to their internal rift
Ferozepur, February 18: With the declaring of all the 15 SAD-BJP candidates declared winners by Returning Officer of Guruharsahai, the Congress candidates have moved to the High Court and the case is fixed for February 19.
It may be mentioned that Rana Sodhi Congress MLA from Guruharsahai have alleged that Akali-BJP leaders and supporters are hand in glove with the government as Congress candidates were not allowed to file their papers.
The RO on Wednesday declared 12 Akali and three BJP candidates as winners. They are BJP’s Amandeep Girdhar, Rekha Rani and Sikandar Singh and SAD’s Rohit Kumar Vohra, Prem Kumar, Rajinder Kaur, Sikandar Singh, Parveen, Raj Kumar, Hans Raj, Gulshan Kujmar, Pankaj Kumar, Monika Rani, Summitra Rani and Varinder Kumar.
While Congress MLA has alleged the government officials hand in glove and not allowed the Congress candidates to enter the office, on the other hand, SAD leaders have said the Congress was not interested to contest the election in view of their internal rift over certain issues.
As per the sources, the Returning Officer had not received any summons from the court. However, according to the cousel for the Congress nominees, the court will hear the case tomorrow and a notice has been issued to the State and RO.
