Mayank Foundation joins hands with police, distributes free sanitary pads for women during lockdown
Ferozepur, April 23, 2020: As the lockdown has intensified, the people are forced to push themselves further into the safety zones of homes, many NGOs have emerged as great saviors of the poor people by supplying ration and other valuable items to their doorsteps.
In such a unique initiative, Mayank Foundation, a social welfare organization, in close collaboration with Ferozepur police as a state-wide project, is distributing sanitary pads to girls and women in slum areas of the town.
The members of the foundation along with a team of cops led by Superintendent of Police (H)Baljit Singh and DSP Gurdeep Singh, visited the various slum areas and distributed the sanitary napkins to the women belonging to the poor strata. Speaking on the occasion, Anirudh Gupta, President of the foundation said, “We feel honoured to join hands with Ferozepur police in this novel and noble initiative to supply sanitary kits to the poor women. It will boost personal hygiene among the women without having to worry about shelling out any expenses on buying the sanitary pads from the market.”
SP Baljit Singh, while lauding the efforts of Mayank Foundation said, “Mayank Foundation always remains on the forefront when it comes to doing any social welfare service. Their workers swing into action with full fervor and play a pivotal role in helping the administration and the police for the better execution of welfare acts. During this corona lockdown, supply of ration to the homes of poor people is an iconic act of benevolence.”
While Dr. Tanjeet Bedi , another member of the foundation said that we are committed to render our services to the administration and police for any task related to welfare of public. NGOs have a big role to play in the time of public crisis. We hope the tough phase that the world is going through will pass soon, he further added.
