Mass drug disposal seized in 72 cases by Drug Disposal Committee on IDD in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, June 27, 2024:The Ferozepur Police on Thursday, on International Drug Day (IDD), disposed of seized drugs property, in the 72 cases of the NDPS Act, in the presence of District Level Drug Disposal Committee under the tutelage of Ajay Maluja, DIG Ferozepur Range under the supervision of Soumiya Mishra, SSP, Randhir Kumar, SP(I), Balkar Singh, DSP(D), as per the instructions on the subject.
The seized property burnt down was 26.500 poppy husks, 2220 pills, 246 gm intoxicant powder, 900 gm ganja, and 14.500 green plants seized in 72 cases under the NDPS Act. Besides, in pre-trial 2 cases under the NDPS Act, 13.890 kg of heroin was also disposed of.
During 2023 also, the seized property of drugs seized disposed of in 1173 cases was 3194.600 kg poppy husk, 168/226/600 lg jerpom. /570 gm smack, 665079 pills, 68960 capsules, 11.487 kg intoxicant powder, 2.899 kg ganja, 8803 injections, 1003 syrup, 580.900 kg bhang, 190.922 kg opium, 430 gms charas, 1040 kg green plants. Similarly, from 2024 till June 25, in 168 cases, 75.50 kg poppy husk, 23 kg 75 ml heroin, 5740 pills and 595 gm intoxicant powder were disposed of.
However, the opium weighing 35.260 kg seized in 26 cases from Jan 1 to June 26, 2024 under the NDPS Act was deposited at Nimach in MP.
The vigil against drug peddling had been stepped up by the police, on directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann who is acting on mission mode to rid the state of the drug menace, resulting in this huge recovery. These were collected through various raids and seizures by the police in the past.
