Janmeja Singh Sekhon presides over Distt Level Old Age Pension Distribution Programme in Ferozepur
17.29 lac beneficiaries – Rs.86.25 crore monthly
Ferozepur, February 18, 2016: Today, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Cabinet Minister, Punjab Government presided over District Level Old Age Pension Distribution Programme in Ferozepur on doubling the pension amount of Rs.250 to Rs.500 to the beneficiaries.
Present on this occasion were Kamal Sharma, President, Punjab BJP, Joginder Singh Jindu, MLA Ferozepur Rural, D.P.Chandan, Chairman, Planning Board, Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner,Ferozepur besides Akali and BJP leaders and workers and beneficiaries of Ferozepur Block.
In Ferozepur District, 83662 beneficiaries are being disbursed ore than Rs.4.18 crore and the government has reserved budget of Rs.1000 crore for the purpose.
Appreciating the welcome step of the government for enhancing the old age pension from Rs.250 to Rs.500, Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and beneficieries of old age pension of the district.
Kamal Sharma, speaking on the occasion said, the alliance government is making all-out efforts at all levels to provide better services to all categories. Congratulating the beneficiaries on increase in monthly old age pension, he said, the government has introduced various new schemes for the people of the state.
He however appealed to the people to be cautious while selecting the representatives in the government during the coming assembly elections keeping in mind the development works by the government and see all with different vision.
Janmeja Singh Sekhon in his address said, the various welfare schemes of the Punjab Government is the outcome of vision of Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab.
He said, anyone can analyse himself the various development works in the urban and rural areas have been undertaken making a special reference to construction of Amritsar-Bhatinda and Bhatinda-Chandigarh roads with concrete having a shelf-life of hundred years. Congress has ruled for the maximum time but not even a single scheme for the welfare of the poor has been introduced during their tenure.
Each Assembly constituency is being provided with huge funds for the development of villages in Punjab and I don’t think such a lion’s share have been provided by any government.
It is easy to said but difficult to honour the commitments, said Sekhon confidently.
Talking about the problem being faced by the pensioners in the bank, he said, the Punjab Government has taken a decision to disburse the pensions to the old persons at their door steps through the Panchayats.
Admitting the year being a development year, he said, by the June end, the people of Punjab would see the over-all development in the state.
Later, 25 old age beneficiaries were given the first revised old age pension by the Chief Guest.
