Jain Community paid obeisance to Bhagwan Mahavir

Ferozepur, April 2, 2015 :  “Lord Mahvir Jayanti” was celebrated by the resident of Ferozepur cantonment by organizing a Rath Yatra. Hundreds of followers belonging to Jain Community besides other thronged to the local “Digambar Jain Mandir” to pay obeisance to Lord Mahavir.

Mahavir Jayanti  is observed by Jains as birth anniversary of sage Mahavir. Mahavir, also known as Vardhamana, established core tenets of Jainism. Mahavir was the 24th and the last Jain sage.

It may also be added that Mahavir was born on thirteenth day of the rising moon of Chaitra month (which was Trayodashi Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month). Mahavir was born during 599 B.C. and disappeared in 527 B.C. at the age of 72. Mahavir was born at Kundalagrama which is situated under Vaishali district in Bihar.

Amit Kumar, ADC (D), Ferozepur, Surinder Singh Babbu, The President of the Cantonment Board, Zora Singh Sandhu and Sunil Kumar Goyal, MCs along with others participated in this “Rath Yatra”. Jain Preachers Brahmcharini Sunita Shastri and Sushil Didi blessed the audience with their religious discourses. The Rath Yatra crossed through all over the cantonment area amongst the humming beats of Dhol and Nagaras.

While addressing the converged people Amit Kumar, ADC said that Bhagvan Mahavir has given an important message of mutual brotherhood and prosperity which is quite meaningful even today. The whole cantonment area was echoed by acclamations of Lord Mahavir and the Rath Yadra added a wonder scene also.

On this occasion Suresh Jain, Mohan Jain, Tarun Jain, Dr. Vijay Jain Deepak Jain, Ashok Jain, Mohan, Sanjay, Naresh, Vivek Kumar Advocate, Arihant Jain and other were present.
