Jail Pharmacist booked on delivery of habit-forming capsules to inmate
Ferozepur, May 8, 2023: Central Jail Ferozepur has once again come on headlines with the recovery of Pregabalin capsules delivered by Jail Pharmacist to the inmate.
Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent Central Jail said, on getting a tip-off, a raid was conducted by him along with employees and 39 strips containing 390 Pregabalin capsules, which Jaswinder Singh Pharmacist deployed at OAT Centre, who had purchased these intoxicant capsules from outside without the prescription of the doctor, brought inside the jail and handed over under trial prisoner Gurjit Singh son of Ajit Singh and Arun Kuar son on Kuldeep Singh, from whom these were recovered. They reported to have given Rs.5,000 to the Pharmacist in lieu of these capsules.
A case, on the complaint of Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent has been registered under section 52-A of Prisons Act at Ferozepur City police station against two inmates Gurjit Singh of Machhi Ke and Arun Dhawan of Golden Enclave, Ferozepur City and Pharmacist Jaswinder Singh. Later on, the Pharmacist reported to have been released on bail while the two inmates are already lodged in the jail. Further investigations are on with Gurmel Singh, IO appointed in this case.
