Increase in EPF subscribers’ family pension, Employees Mahasangh to hold protest rally
Ferozepur, September 13, 2018: Punjab State Cooperative Board Corporation/Workers Employees Mahasangh – an organization of representatives from semi-government and cooperative institutions – fighting for the cause of hike in family pension after retirement, have decided to hold massive rally on September 28 near the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner – RPFC, in Sector 17 Chandigarh.
Presently, the semi-government and cooperative institutions employees are not covered under the pension and medical facility except the nominal family pension from RPFC under Employees Provident Fund Act 1995.
However, a hope has risen after the ruling of the Supreme Court, after fighting a long battle in the court, for the hike in family pension, the implementation of the same is still pending.
As per the latest instructions from RPFC, the employees retired after August 2014 will not be eligible for any hike in pension.
On the other hand, the Punjab government is also not in a position to introduce the Pay Commission reports, the release of balance DA instalments, filling up of vacant positions by promotion or direct recruitment, extending the benefit of full pay under probation etc. On the other hand, development cess has been imposed on the employees.
Speaking to media persons Harbhajan Dass, representative of Punjab MARKFED Retired Employees Federation alleged that the RPFC has adopted the dilly-dallying attitude in implementing the Supreme Court orders for enhancing the family pension by raising unwanted objections. We have been allotted to show the strength of unity by protesting on September 26 at 10.30 am to 3 pm. There will also be a monthly meeting on September 29 at Markfed House Chandigarh.
Keeping all these factors in view, the Punjab State Cooperative Board Corporation/Workers Employees Mahasangh, have decided to register their protest with a chain of rallies from 24 to 27 September in front of the Regional PF offices and state rally on September 28 at Chandigarh, said Dalbir Singh, President.
