In Ferozepur, all arrangements in tact with procuring agencies in 199 centres
Ferozepur, April 13, 2020: All arrangements for wheat procurement during the current Rabi season, amid curfew, in the wake of coronavirus, are intact and all required services will be provided in the 199 mandis set up in the district for the target procurement of 8.40 lac MTs, said Kulwant Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur.
DC said, the farmers will not any sort problem during the procurement by the five earmarked agencies by the government – FCI, Punjab Agro, Pungrain, Warehouse Markfed and Punsup, with government instructions to procure the grains with maximum 12 percent moisture at the Rs.1925 per qtl.
He said, all the agencies had made arrangements for the lifting of stocks from the mandis, gunny bags, loading and unloading and no laxity will be tolerated in these operations.
He however, appealed to the farmers not to harvest the wheat during night with the combines and only the dried grains should be dumped in the mandi yards so that there is no problem in its marketing by the government agencies.
Keeping in view the impact of coronavirus to avid crowding in the mandis, the farmers will be issued passes and only the pass holder will be allowed to bring his crop in the mandi for sale. But all will ensure the social distancing to combat of spread of coronavirus symptoms if not detected so far of any person.
