Ferozepur, November 17, 2015:  In Ferozepur, about 70 youth Congress workers were rounded up by the police from different locations who were to burn the effigy of Dy.Chief Minister in protest against the withdrawal of false cases against the Congress workers and shifted to Ghall Khurd police station, about 20 KMs from Ferozepur.

The Congress workers had planned to assemble at Udham Singh Chowk and burn the effigy of Dy.Chief Minister but dodging the police, they managed to burn the effigy near the Shamshan Ghat, Zira Gate other than the designated place Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, sources said.

Earlier taking a serious note of registration of false cases against the Congress leaders and workers and sending them to the jail, had warned the government in a memorandum to the Chief Minister, the Youth Congress Punjab to burn the effigies of Deputy Chief Minister at all the district headquarters in the state on November 17.

In the memorandum, Amarpreet Singh Lali Congress leader in the sacrilege case of Holy Book at Nazu Shah Mishri Wala, a group of Sikh sangat had manhandled with Darshan Singh Sherkhan but later on the case was registered against the Congress leaders – Gurnam Singh Liha Genral Secretary, Satnam Singh General Secreary, Youth halqa Rural Baljit Singh, Amardeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh under sections 307, 382, 436, 427, 341, 323, 506, 148, 149.

Astonishing over the statement of Dy.Chief Minister that no case will be registered against anyone but the moment the situation was cooled down, innocent and guiltless Congress workers have been booked and sent to the jail, he added.

Amarpreet Singh Lali demanded the release of Congress workers arrested at Kapurthala and Aadmpura.

Making it clear, he said, in case the cases against the Congress workers are not taking back, the Congress will intensify its agitation in the coming days, which will prove a last nail in the hearse of the Punjab Government.

By the time of filing of this news, there was no intimation about the release of arrested Congress workers.
