In a valiant act, teacher rescues 3 women trapped in fire
Ferozepur, October 14, 2021: In a movie-like act, Ramit Thind, a physical education teacher, did a gallantry job by rescuing three women trapped in a fire in a home in village Dhira Ghara about 25 kilometers from the district headquarters.
The home, situated adjacent to the Government Senior Secondary School, had been engulfed in fire triggered by leakage in the LPG cylinder. As the flames and smoke started billowing out from the home, Ramit Thind led his staff to rush to the spot. He heard the cries of women coming out from a room. It was impossible to reach to them as flames had spread to the whole room even blocking the entrance.
Luckily, fire extinguishers were available in the school as safety measures against fire incidents. Ramit managed to douse the fire with the use of fire extinguishers and made his way into the room to hurriedly pull the three ladies out. As he pulled the ladies out risking his own life, the onlookers not only hailed his valiant effort but also thanked him for saving the women.
Ramit hails from the Fazilka district and he commutes from his village to the school traveling about 60 kilometers daily. He was posted here after securing his job as a physical teacher in 2020.
It is pertinent to mention that Ritu Dogra, the Hindi Mistress, who is also in-charge of fire safety equipment, felt honoured that proper maintenance of these safety gears by the school staff, helped in saving three precious human lives.
