Hindu community up in arms against racist remarks on social media
Ferozepur September 20, 2016: There was a great resentment among Hindu community over the comments posted on Facebook, made by a youth from Australia making misuse of social media against the Hindu Lords.
On Tuesday, activists of various religious organizations and NGOs lodged resentment over anti-religious and anti-community comments made by hardliner Gurjant Singh on social media.
Protesters raised slogans and obstructed traffic on Mall Road at railway over bridge. They also handed over a complaint cum memorandum to SSP, Ferozepur demanding to lodge an FIR against the accused who hurt their religious feelings and taking up the matter at the international level.
There is a sense of uneasiness prevailing in the city which poses great threat to law and order and prevalent communal harmony.
In memorandum, Hindu activists had alleged that Gurjant Singh who lives in Australia made false, ferocious and misleading statements on social media which defames Hindu community.
Protesters attached the copy of statement of accused with their memorandum in which Gurjant Singh has spread venom about Lord Ram, Lord Krishana, Lord Shiva, Parshu Ram, Barahma, Vishnu Shabri etc.
Hari Ram Khindri President, Brahaman Sabha, Ferozepur and represnettives of various Hindu communities in the city, have urged Punjab government to intervene in the matter at the earliest to avoid any untoward incidence in the state.
On other hand SSP, pacified Hindu activists and assured them of proper action against anti-social elements and assured to take action against the accused under Cyber Crime.
