Health Department organizes Marathon dedicated to International Women’s Day
Ferozepur, March 8, 2017: Punjab Health Department organized Marathon and Medical Camp dedicated to Int’l Women’s Day under the tutelage of Dr.Gurminder Singh, Civil Surgeon at local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, presided over by Shruti Sharma, Addl. Deputy Commissioner and Kashmir Kaur, Supdt. Police, participated by female staff of all the departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Shruti Sharma said, we should never treat our daughters as burden because the girls have proved by excelling in almost in every field. She said, women are important part of our society and without them one cannot imagine about the society.
Stressing on the education of the girls, she said, in case one girl in each family is educated, she can teach whole of the family, she said.
Women can establish their existence by making themselves mentally strong and they should not treat themselves as less than any other one. All categories of people should come forward to eradicate the menace of female foeticide from our society, she added.
Kashmir Kaur, SP created awareness among the females about their rights while Dr.Gurminder Singh during his address motivated them to face with the problems strongly.
Later a medical check-up camp was also organized in the District Administrative Complex wherein 200 women were medically examined besides arranging debate on International Women’s Day.
