Four more mobiles found from jail, frequent recovery exposes security chinks
Ferozepur, September 3, 2021: Despite strict vigilance at the jail entry points, the smuggling in of mobile is continuing as four more mobiles have been found from inside the jail putting a question mark on the security arrangements, which need to be further tightened.
With the frequent recovery of mobiles from inside the jail, the purpose of keeping the inmates away from the outer world as punishment is lost. The mobiles provide inmates the ability to make and receive unauthorized phone calls, send email and text messages, use social media and follow news pertaining to their case among other forbidden uses.
Earlier on September 1, five mobiles were found concealed on the ground along the barrack wall and during the second fortnight of August, 31 mobiles were recovered. Nothing has come on the surface about smuggling in mobiles but the vigilant staffs having inputs links are thwarting the attempts of the jail inmates about its usages. So far, 167 mobiles have been recovered including today’s seizure during 2021.
As per information, on the basis of input, a check was made by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent and two unclaimed mobiles with battery and SIM cards were found lying on pillar number 4 of barrack number 8, while one more mobile was in the same barrack. Another mobile was recovered from under trial prisoner Kulwant Singh.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under the Prisons Act on the complaint of Assistant Superintendent with appointing of Roashal Lal, IO.
