Forest Minister Dharamsot made public Wild Life Sanctuary at Harike for tourists
Ferozepur, December 15, 2020: The Wild Life Sanctuary and Wetland at Harike Pattan was made public by Forest Minister, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, during his visit today. Earlier, it was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic as a precautionary measure. On this occasion, a unique portrait by Harpreet Sandhu, Nature Photographer was also released.
On this occasion, Harminder Singh Gill, MLA Patti and Chief Wild Lie Warden Punjab, R.K.Mishra and SDM Zira Ranjit Singh were also present.
During his interaction with the reporters, he said, in order to make the sanctuary more attractive, Harike Wildlife Sanctuary has again been made public for the tourists, which spot had been a source of attraction for the tourists and it has been a heaven-like home for the migratory birds. He said, earlier it was closed for the tourists as a precautionary measure, due to Corona pandemic.
While launching the portrait, the Minister acknowledged the efforts of Harpreet Sandhu, for his dedicated work on portrait during the lockdown to capture the natural glimpse.
He said that every year a large number of migratory birds come here from other countries and so far more than 50,000 migratory birds are living here and by January, this number would be more than one lakh.
He said that in order to make the century more attractive, an earlier amount of Rs. 15 crore could not be released due to the Covid 19 crisis and the same would be released soon.
The Cabinet Minister also visited Harike Lake in a boat and got detailed information about the migratory birds on the lake. Meanwhile, he directed the officers to constitute a special committee under the supervision of the MLAs of the adjoining areas to prepare a comprehensive plan, collectively for the betterment of sanctuary.
Chief Wildlife Warden Punjab RK Mishra, SDM Zira Ranjit Singh, DFO Amnit Singh were present on the occasion.
