Food safety team inspects Ferozepur shops, collects 7 samples
Ferozepur, April 27, 2022: In all, seven samples were taken from the dairies and grocery shops in the district. The inspection was part of the state, to evaluate the quality and purity of spices, government’s Tandrust Punjab Mission, which was undertaken by the Food Safety Team led by Harwinder Singh, Food Safety Officer, under the tutelage of Dr.Rajinder Arora, Civil Surgeon.
The quality of various food items and their expiry dates was checked and as many as and in all, 7 samples were taken from the different dairies and sweep shops and products made from milk and the same were sent for analysis to the Sample Testing Lab for testing.
During the current year – from Jan. 22 to May 22 – 53 samples were taken. Out of this the result of 7 samples were failed, while 32 were passed and result of 14 samples was still awaited.
Fresh samples have been sent to the Sampling Inspection Centre at Kharar for analysis. Meanwhile, the Civil Surgeon directed the shopkeepers to pay special attention to cleanliness and also asked the shopkeepers to get food license / registration under the Food Safety Standards Act 2006.
FSO informed that for the failed samples, a fine of Rs.35,000 was imposed by the court of ADC of substandard pure ghee of Everyday traders and in another case Rs.15,000 fine was imposed to ice cream company of Kamal Food for misleading information frozen desserts selling as ice cream.
Dr Arora also said that these checks were not to harass people but to ensure that clean and quality food items were made available to people.
