Ferozepur’s border Village Govt. School celebrates 136th National Mathematics Day
Ferozepur, December 22, 2023: To pay tribute to the brilliant Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the 136th National Mathematics Day was celebrated at Govt. High School, Chak Ghubai in Mamdot Block of Ferozepur district, under the tutelage of Principal,Shivani along with math teachers Parveen Kumar and Anita Rani.
The National Mathematics Day is observed on December 22 each year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Since 2012, India’s National Mathematics Day has been celebrated on December 22nd annually with numerous educational events held at schools and universities throughout the country. This date marks the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. His contribution to mathematical analysis, infinite series, continued fractions and number theory was immense. Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family in 1887 at Erode, Tamil Nadu. He died on April 26, 1920 in Kumbakonam.
The objective of the National Mathematics Day celebrations was to promote love for Mathematics among the students by involving them in various exciting activities.
Students from different classes took part in mathematics-related activities specifically designed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the subject. These activities include colouring Ramanujan’s Diagram and other Maths-related words, Videos on 3D Shapes, Maths Relay, Interhouse Maths Quiz, and Maths Rangoli in which all the students of the school participated with great enthusiasm. Besides, interesting questions were also asked from the students.
Highlighting the life of Srinivasa Ramanuja, Shivani, Principal said hesitation towards mathematics can be removed only by using it daily. Mathematics is not only a subject but it is an important part of our daily life. With the correct understanding and application of Mathematics, we can make our lives more organised and successful. By honouring the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan, we hope to encourage young minds and encourage their curiosity in the field of Mathematics.
