Ferozepur Sub-division starts awareness drive of hazardous impact of stubble burning
Ferozepur, October 23, 2020: In order to make the people aware of hazardous impact of stubble burning on the environment and human health and curb this menace, the district administration has initiated a drive to create awareness in all the 328 villages in Sub-division Ferozepur.
Revealing the details, SDM Amit Gupta said, the entire revenue staff – Patwaris, Kanungoes, Naib Tehsildars and Tehsildars have been put on duty to sensitize the farmers at their door-steps, by visiting the villages, with a message to contribute in providing the pollution-free environment rather earn by not burning the stubble rather earn merging with soil or selling it to the power generator plants.
SDM also visited several villages in the sub-division – Sodhi Nagar, Ittanwali, Kada Bora, Bhamba Landa and others and all the stakeholders including farmers, bailer operators, laborers were put wiser about the harmful effects of stubble burning. Several farmers took the pledge not to burn the stubble on the spot, he added.
He also asked the farmers to become a precedent for fellow farmers by not burning the stubble. The burning of crop residues was posing a danger to human health and the environment adding that ploughing crop residues, in the fields itself, could play an important role in enhancing the fertility of the soil.
