Ferozepur police seized 1530 boxes of liquor with 2 canters
Ferozepur, April 2, 2024: Ahead of Lok Sabha elections on June 1 in Punjab, the Ferozepur police, in its drive against the drug smugglers, anti-social elements and mischievous persons, is making every effort to curb their activities completely and various teams headed by gazette officers are actively working in Ferozepur and a breakthrough, the police have recovered a huge quantity of liquor, without any permit. Though sufficient is available in the Lok Sabha elections, the quantum of liquor seizure comes at a time when the country is preparing for the Lok Sabha elections and the Mode Code of Conduct is in place, which is an indicator of making desperate attempts to lure voters by the political parties.
Soumya Mishra, SSP said, that in this campaign, the teams under the tutelage of Randhir Kumar, SP(I), Balkar Singh, DSP(D), Atul Saini, DSPSD) Guruharsahai and Upkar Singh, SHO while patrolling in the Guruharsahai area, got an input from the informer that two canters with specific numbers loaded with liquor were ready to move, without any permit. Working actively, on the input, the police teams at the designated place recovered 630 packs of English liquor, and 900 bottles of beer of different brands in two canters were recovered with drivers identified as Lakhwinder Singh and Baljit Singh. We are keeping a strict vigil on suspicious items to influence the election, she added.
The accused will be produced in the court to get remand for further in-depth investigation with a special focus on the purpose behind this huge liquor transportation.
