Ferozepur Police cracks down on drug smuggler, 6.270 kg heroin recovered
Ferozepur, April 20, 20201: In a major crackdown on smuggling of narcotics across the border from Pakistan, the Ferozepur Police Narcotic Cell working swiftly on a tip-off successfully break Indian smugglers’ link with counterpart in Pakistan with his arrest and recovery of 6.270 kg heroin having Rs.30 crore value in the international market.
Divulging with the details, SSP Bhagirath Meena said, on a tip-off with the Narcotic Cell, the police have arrested one Indian smuggler identified as Raj Kumar alias Raja resident of Machhi Mandi, Ferozepur City initially could recover only 270 gm heroin and case under NDPS Act was registered.
He said, during the course of further investigation, Raj Kumar admitted having links with Pakistan counterparts, arranged 6 kg heroin which is lying dumped in the wheat fields at Gate No.186 Pillar No.186 near zero line opposite the BSF 136 Bn Post. On searching the designated place with BSF jointly, 6 kg heroin was recovered lying wrapped in a plastic bag in six yellow colour packets having marketing value of around Rs.30 crores.
SSP said, police remand of Raj Kumr will be obtained for further investigations with specific focus on more clues of links of Raj Kumar on Indian and Pakistan side, to further crack the persons involved in this chain.
