Ferozepur, October 1, 2022: Launching the Anti-drug helpline number, Surindera Lamba, SSP said during the month of September, 2022, the Ferozepur police has booked 150 persons under in 128 cases under NDPS Act, in its drive against anti-social elements with recovery of drugs.

Divulging with details, SSP said, during the month of September, 2022, in 128 cases, 150 persons were arrested with recovery of 6.596 kg heroin, 85 kg poppy husk, 2.5 kg opium, 11,790 habit forming drugs, 50 gm intoxicant powder, Rs.1.5 lakhs drug money. Besides, in 22 cases booked under Excise Act, 15 accused were arrested with recovery of 1200 ltr illicit liquor, 515 kh ‘lahan’ and 2 working units extracting liquor.

He further disclosed that during the last three months 305 cases have been registered with arrest of 368 persons and recovery of 18.070 kg heroin, 267.1 kg poppy husk, 7.360 gm opium, 35229 habit forming drugs, 4.859 kg intoxicant powder, and Rs.8.43 lakh drug money. Similarly, under Excise Act, in 81 cases 69 persons were arrested with recovery of 2263 ltr illegal liquor, 2912 ltr liquor, 2674 kg ‘lahan’ and 9 working units.

SSP said, the police is keeping a close eye on the criminals in the district and in this context, a anti-drug helpline number has also been launched as 9646400112 on the public domain and anyone can send the information or text message on whats app and his name will be kept secret.

Making an appeal to the people to keep themselves away from the illegal activities, he said, in case the anti-social elements don’t mend their behaviour, they will be dealt with severely as per the law.
