Ferozepur, February 26, 2016: The Punjab Cabinet has approved the transfer of remaining land of 5.5 acres to Union Health Ministry and the border town Ferozepur would have PGI Satellite Centre which would be big relief for the Cancer hit people of Malwa belt, said Kamal Sharma, President,Punjab BJP while speaking to the media persons.
Added here, the Satellite Centre was approved two and a half years back but due to procedural wrangles had been delayed.
The Centre is to come up on 21.5 acres land, out of which 16 acres had already been transferred and for remaining 5.5 acres piece of land which was identified by the PGI team during May last year, a proposal was sent to Secretary Housing Board, Punjab which was approved by the Cabinet.

In the event of any serious accidents and for treatment of chronic diseases, the people of this border town have to move to distant places like Ludhiana, Amritsar and Chandigarh. But with the coming of PGI Satellite Centre, it will be a big relief for the people of the area.
It is worth mentioning that Kamal Sharma had been pursuing the matter with both the centre and state from past few years. Initially, Sharma had taken up the matter with the then Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and then with the present incumbent J.P.Nadda, besides energetically following it up with the Punjab government. He was personally monitoring the status of the centre and the land requirement matter, which was due with the state government.
