Ferozepur DC suspends Kanungo for Rs.1.11 cr in revenue land record fraud case

Ferozepur, July 8, 2019: Taking a stern action against the government official responsible for serious dereliction of duty, the Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind suspended Kanoongo of Ferozepur Cantt area – Balkar Singh – in a land record fraud case worth Rs. 1,11,08,236.

.Divulging the details, Msaid that the action has been taken after the investigation of a complaint, filed by 136 battalion of BSF against the Kannongo Balkar Singh. A fraud in the revenue record of patwar circle of Palla Megha was detected while the Kannongo was posted there as Halqa Patwari, said the deputy Commissioner.

The action has been taken by the Deputy Commissioner, for arranging compensation amount in the name of his brother-in-law and other person by Balkar Singh, Kanungo for 46 kanals of land acquired by BSF, by tampering with the record.  

DC said that during investigation, serious tempering in the revenue record was during the tenure of patwari Balkar Singh (now kannongo) in order to make some outsider the owner of land measuring 46 Kanals, adding that he said that with this act, the said persons were benefited with the amount worth Rs. 1,11,08,236 as a payment of the land.

He said that being the real owner of the land, this payment was supposed to be made in the government exchequer but went into private hands, which was not possible without the in connivance of the Halqa Patwari.

Acting promptly on the inquiry report submitted by the Sadar Kanoongo branch, the deputy commissioner has immediately suspended the Kannongo Balkar Singh under section 7(2) of the Punjab Civil Services Rules besides alloting Tehsil Guru Harsahai as headquarter to the Kannongo Balkar Singh during his suspension period.  The enquiry has been entrusted to ADC Ravinder Singh.
