Ferozepur: Cross-border drug trafficking racket busted, one held with heroin, arms and ammo, drug money
Ferozepur, April 15, 2024: The Ferozepur police CIA staff in charge, on a tip-off, busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket being operated by a Canda-based smuggler with the arrest of one of its members and seizure of a huge quantity of heroin, a drug money, arms and ammunition and held one smuggler involved in heroin smuggling deal with counterparts across the border in Pakistan. It is a big blow to tarn’s border narcotic network.
Soumiya Mishra, SSP said, a tip-off was received by CIA staff Incharge, Inspector Parbjit Singh, during patrolling to keep an eye on the suspicious nature persons, near Baba Deep Singh Avenue falling under Sadar police station that Manjit Singh alias Money, Rohit Sethi and Bhuvnesh Chopra alias Ashish (now in Canada) of Ferozepur and Bhuvnesh while in Canada in coordination with Pakistan based smugglers, are arranging heroin consignment supplies.
Working swiftly on the input, the police teams during the raid nabbed Manjit Singh and recovered 7 kg heroin, Rs.36 lac drug money, one pistol 32 bore with a magazine and 5 live cartridges, one rifle 315 bore with a magazine and 5 live cartridges, two pistols 30 bore with a magazine and 5 live cartridges each, one iPhone 15 Pro. Apart from this seizure, the police team also impounded the arrested drug smuggler’s one car Electra and Rs.5,500 was found during the search. SSP Somiya Mishra said, the arrested accused is already involved in two cases of murder and NDPS Act.
A case under NDPS Act Sections 21/23/29 has been registered for all the three accused and further investigations are on with a special focus on, the source of receipt of consignment, by visiting or by dropping through drone or keeping in the fields near the zero line, their history and forward plans and to arrest other Indian-based Rohit Sethi besides tapping for Canada based smuggler Ashish who must be in touch the other two members, who were supplying heroin across the other stations after importing it from Pakistan.
The properties of these drug smugglers will also be attached, after verification, from the Competent Authority, said SSP.
SSP said, it is the highest recovery during the last three years in the district and shortly the cops who have worked hard and shown excellent results would be honoured suitably by DIG, at the appropriate event.
