Farmers lay seize to rail tracks in Shambu,  hits 154 trains

Ferozepur, April 26, 2024: Farmers protest at Shambu station disrupted 154 trains in Ambala Division of Northern Railways, leading to cancellation of numerous important trains on various railway lines.   The farmers had also announced to hold a massive protest on May 1 Labour Day and to hold a huge gathering on May 22 on completion of one year of Kisan Andolan 2.0 at Shambu.

The protest continued under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM).  The farmers squatted on railway tracks at Shambu railway station demanding the release of three farmers held by the Haryana Police besides notification on MSP besides MSP legal guarantee and debt waiver.

The protest on the Ambala-Ludhiana-Amritsar railway line was underway and in all, 154 trains were affected.  While 46 trains were cancelled, 105 trains were diverted and 2 each were short-terminated and short-originated.
