Farmers’ Bharat Bandh gets support from all sections in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 8, 2020: On Bandh Call by the farmers today, expressing solidarity with the farmers for Bharat Bandh call today over the rollback of three Farm Bills, a Tractor Rally was organized in this border town Ferozepur which attracted support from all sections of the society.
The farmers are protesting over the rollback of the three laws are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.
The support to the farmers also came from the teachers, children, ministerial staff, advocates, hotels, restaurants, shopkeepers, trade unions.
They are protesting peacefully in Punjab since October 23, starting from the rail-roko protest and now in Delhi for the last more than 10 days, by sleeping on different borders of Delhi in the chilling cold. They are up in arms and determined to come back only after winning the battle of withdrawing the Farm Bills by the Centre government that will put them in the hands of big corporates. The talks between the farmers and Modi government have failed despite five rounds of meetings. Now a Bharat Bandh call was given for today which has got a response from one and all in support of the farmers. The farmer’s outfits have demanded a word from the government Yes or No over withdrawal of Farm Laws. On the other hand, the Centre government is adamant to do amendments as per the discussions across the table but will not withdraw the Bills.
The tractor rally passed on the main roads of the Ferozepur City and Cantt and concluded at Chungi No.7. During the rally, apart from the farmers, who had not gone to Delhi, various social organizations including Press Club Ferozepur members, joined in the rally, shouting slogans against the Modi government.
Making an appeal to the Modi government, the protesters said, it is our request with folded hands to the government not to instigate more the farmers but withdraw three Farm Laws.
Here are glimpses captured in pictures of enthusiasm among all in Ferozepur in support of farmers’ call for Bharat Bandh.
