Fake currency racket busted, one arrested

Ferozepur, October 4, 2017:  Ferozepur district police have busted a fake currency racket with the arrest of one  accused Mukhtiar Singh from village Jhoke Hari Har and recovery of fake Indian currency notes of Rs.1,44,000.

A case under sections 498A, 489B, 489C has been registered at Kulgarhi Police station.

Giving this information SSP, Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh informed that on a tip-off, a team headed by Ajmer Singh Bath, SP(I), Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, DSP(I) and Avar Singh Incharge CIA staff arrested one accused during the nakabandi while the police is looking Gurbhej Singh from Delhi who fled away from the scene and had been circulating counterfeit notes.

He further said the achievements from the day of my joining shows the efforts of the police to put a check on the drug supplies and crimes.

SSP informed, 35 cases under NDPS Act were registered with the arrest of 51 accused and recovery of heroin, opium, bhuki, drugs and intoxicant power.  Under  Excise Act, 73 persons were arrested in 61 cases booked with recovery of illicit liquors around 40,000 ltrs.

He further said, three cases of theft were also registered with arrest of 5 persons and recovery of 5 motor cycles and Rs.78,000.

Talking about of the mining cases, he informed, in 19 cases registered, 21 persons were arrested with recovery of 1 tipper, 11 tractors, 2 pope line machines, 2 JCBs and 4 other vehicles.

In the recent fake currency rake busted, Rs.1,44,000 fake Indian currency notes – 73 of Rs.2,000 denomination and 5 of Rs.500, have been recovered., he added.

We are working on other fronts also and more cases are likely to come on surface in near future.  But sometime, due to terrain areas, the information reaches at the crime end.  Anyhow, we are trying to stop it so that each criminal is nabbed by the police,  said SSP.

We are trying to first nab the street drug peddlers to crack the links of big suppliers.

Giving a tip of advice, SSP said, we should give alterative things to our children to keep them busy – games, good literature etc. – so that they not think for the drug like menace.

Making an appeal to the media, he said, the crime can be reduced to half with the cooperation of press and police. The media should create awareness from time to time about the minuses of the drugs so that its users should know its impact.
