Edu Deptt ignores existing model schools over new Smart Schools
Ferozepur, February 19, 2018: To compete with the private schools to raise the standard of education in the government school, the Education Department is now going to upgrade more than 200 Senior Secondary Schools as ‘Smart Schools’ with English medium, while various other schools under various other schemes are facing the staff and infrastructure shortage.
In Ferozepur, two Adarsh schools are running at Bukhan Khan Wala, Hardasa under Zira Block, two Model Schools at Hashmat Wala and Gudder Dhandi (Guruharsahai) and at – Sandhe Hasham, Arif Ke and Khai under NABARD scheme – three each in Assembly constituency are already facing staff shortage and infrastructure.
In the past, it has been seen that whenever there is the change in the government, to get the grant from the Centre, under the new schemes are obtained, without bothering for the future of the schools under the existing schemes.
Now under the new scheme, more than 200 schools, out of around 1800 schools, are to be upgraded as ‘Smart Schools’ – one each in every block with one section in English.
A letter of DGSE has also been floated to get the smart classrooms of best private schools with English medium, inspected to the Principals in coordination with them so that same pattern is introduced in the government schools.
An official of education department on anonymity said, it is very unfortunate that even after more than seven decades of independence of India, we have not been able to set right the education pattern in the country.
Another source of education department disclosed that instead of selecting another 200 schools to convert them into ‘Smart Schools’ with smart classrooms, the existing upgraded schools should be converted into Smart Schools.
