Dr Shaminder Singh Sandhu elected unopposed as Syndicate Member of Panjab University Chandigarh

Ferozepur, December 19, 2016:  Despite groupism during the Syndicate elections of Panjab University Chandgiarh, Dr.Shaminder Singh Sandhu was elected unopposed as member of the Syndicate, along with others. The members of the Syndicate have been elected for the period January 1 to December 31, 2017.

Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, President, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Rajguru Sukhdev Memorial, Harjinder Singh Sandhu, Retd. Sr.Bank Manager Cooperative Bank, Hardev Singh Sandhu Mehma, Harish Monga, Chairman, PDM Memorial Foundation and others congratulated Dr.Shaminder Singh Sandhu for this new distinction conferred upon him.

Speaking on this occasion, Jaswinder Singh Sandhu said, it is a moment of pride for the people of Punjab and particularly for relatives, friends and well-wishers of Dr.Shaminder Singh Sandhu on his elevation as Syndicate member.

Earlier also, Dr.Sandhu was given a warm welcome on his maiden visit to Ferozepur on becoming a Senate Member of the University.

Dr.Shaminder Singh Sandhu who belongs to Abohar in the newly carved district Fazilka from Ferozepur, has a rural background of village Kamal Wala and he was the first Ph.D, followed by five more on getting inspiration from him.  Presently, Sandhu is working as Lecturer in Physics at DAV College, Chandigarh.

Among the 15 Syndicate members, there is only one woman, Pam Rajput, who was elected from the faculty of laws.

Dr.Shaminder Singh Sandhu expressed pleasures to be a part of Syndicate of Panjab University, Chandigarh and assured to do something different to his capacity and ability as lot has to be done in the field of education.  I will definitely come to the expectations of my well-wishers.

This time, over 50 per cent of the faculty members elected to the Syndicate are from the respective faculty they represent rather than from some other faculty.

In the arts faculty, of the three seats, two have gone to experts from the same faculty; in the law faculty, both are from the law background while in the medical faculty, the winning candidates are from the arts faculty.
