Don’t play ‘credit war’ over PGI Satellite Centre, think of providing immediate health services to people, Rajnish Dahiya, MLA Rural
Ferozepur, August 18, 2022: Don’t play for credit war over PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur, think of providing immediate restructured health services to people, said Rajnish Dhaiya, MLA Rural during his visit to the Press Club today.
The much-hyped PGI satellite centre in Ferozepur hangs fire though it was approved in 2013 by the UPA-II government to boost modernised healthcare facilities in the border region.
Earlier also a credit war broke out between Congress and the Akali Dal after Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan announced a Rs 450-crore PGI Satellite Centre for Ferozepur. While announcing the project, the Union Health Minister said that it was done at a request made by Ferozepur MP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal who stressed upon the urgent need to augment health services in the border belt.
Meanwhile, Congress was quick to refute the claim by saying that the project was approved by PM Manmohan Singh’s government in 2012-13. The then SAD-BJP ruled state government had not provided land for the project at that time.
However, during the last tenure of Congress-ruled state government provided land for this project but before the Assembly elections, the PM could not lay the foundation stone on January 5 and was detailed at the over-bridge by the protesters. He has to go back without laying the foundation stone.
Recalling all the previous initiatives irrespective by any of the party, Ranjish Dahiya, MLA on reaching the press club today, the MLA while leaving the club, appealed to the Modi by virtually spreading his ‘Jholi’ saying “There should be no ‘credit war’ over the opening of PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur and it should not be politicized rather think of providing health services to the people as soon as possible by laying the foundations of PGI, when he is coming to inaugurate the Medical College in Punjab on August 24, so that people of the area do not have to go far outside Ferozepur in case of emergency and get immediate treat near their home town.
