Ferozepur, February 14:  Despite total sweep of Congress party, in Assembly elections, its leaders have not a learned a lesson while making allotment of wards during Assembly elections to the aspirant candidates. In view of rift going on between SAD and BJP and decision of AAP to remain out of the game, it was a golden chance for Congress party to put its hands over the victory in Municipal elections.

The disunion among Congress is clearly visible by denying ticket to the wife of one of the Congress leader – Raju Khattar Vice President, District Congress, Ferozepur – instead giving ticket to Rachna Malhotra, Ward No.4 – reserved for ladies.

In this ward, there are four candidates in race- Kamla Rani Mehta (BJP), Rachna Malhotra (Congress), Satish Pushpa (Congress), Sudesh Rani (Congress).

In protest, Raju Khattar has submitted his resignation to the party High Command.  Putting a question marks on the Executive Committee of Parminder Singh Pinki, Congress MLA, Core Committee Member Sat Pal Choudhary said, “What is the fun of forming Core Committee, if its members are not to be consulted?”

In fact, Raju Khattar wanted to filed his wife for contesting MC elections in WardNo.4 and an assurance was given by the party but later on denied, which could not digest and resigned from the party.

Raju said, Jatinder Mehra, head of religious body alongwith some persons came to his house and pressurized for not contesting as he iws in favour of giving ticket to Rachna Malhotra, wife of Titu Malhotra.

On the other hand, according to Jatinder Mehra, he was called by Raju at his residence and has not pressurized. The party has given ticket to Rachna Malhotra and he had gone to make him understand the decision of the party and support her.

As per the information, the residents of this ward have decided to boycott the Congress in MC elections.
