Dengue, Malaria Awareness Seminar organized at Saanjh Kendra

Ferozepur, November 7, 2018: Around 150 +ve Dengue cases have been found in Ferozepur, despite creating awareness and fogging operation carried out in the city but the onus for tackling dengue and other vector-borne diseases lies either on health department or municipal council.

An Awareness Seminar in this context was organized by three Saanj Kendras in Ferozepur working under CPSC – Community Policing Sevice Centre – jointly at City Police Station in association with Streamline Welfare Society to create wakefulness among the people to put a complete check on the spread of dengue.  Dr.Yuvraj Kumar from Civil Hospital along with his team delivered a detailed lecture putting wiser the people to all preventive measures to avoid the alarming attack of Dengue in our city with 150 +ve cases in 2018 against 427 cases during the last year.  Out of 150 positive cases of dengue, 115 are from City and Cantt, 17 Mamdot, 10 Ferozshah, 5 Guruharsahai and 3 Zira.

Sharing the state figures, he said, the positive cases in 2015 were 8768 whereas it has increased to 8811 in 2018.  While 54 died of suspected dengue in Punjab last year, the figure for the current years is 35.

Dr.Yuvraj said, the task force officials of the health department and municipal council are working hard to put a complete check on breeding of mosquitoes and leaking water supply lines but the cooperation of individual is more important to keep their surroundings neat and clean.

Dr.Yuvraj appealed to the various representatives of local NGOs to organize camps in the slum areas to create awareness among the people about the consequences of the spread of dengue and he is ready on any call on any day for the detailed briefing.

Around six teams are working on the project over fogging in vulnerable urban areas and rural areas, sprinkling medicines at the standing waters. There are less reported cases from rural as compared to the city this year.
