Ferozepur, December 2, 2015 : All decks are cleared for the ambitious PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur and approval for transfer of the required 21 acre land of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) to PGI will be given in the next Cabinet meeting. Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President shared his views today while launching of Inactivate Polio Vaccine (IPV) at the local Civil Hospital here today.
The Health Department has done commendable job for eradication of chronic disease polio from the country with the result there is not even a single case of polio in whole of the country. But to stop further spreading of this disease in future, IVP has been introduced with the consent of 126 countries, said Kamal Sharma.
Speaking on this occasion, Kamal Sharma said, all decks have been cleared for setting up of satellite centre on the pattern of PGIMER Chandigarh with 100-bed hospital. The transfer of 21 acre land will be approved in the next Cabinet meeting.
He said, the delay in start of the project is due to technical problem in transfer of land which was earlier transferred to Ministry of Health, then to PUDA and now it has to be transferred to PGI for which the Cabinet approval is needed.
Sharma said, it is his personal desire that the border area people should get all health related facilities in Ferozepur itself for which they have go to out sations and even out of state. He assured to make all possible efforts to arrange funds to provide all facilities to rural area people coming to Civil Hospital after meeting the Centre Health Minister and Punjab Chief Minister.
Sources said, the centre will be linked to PGI Chandigarh for referral, training and consultation purposes besides availability of round the clock emergency services.
The centre is expected to give a fillip to the health care sector in the region and the project is likely to cost initially around Rs.200 crore.
