DC calls upon voters to understand importance of right to vote for strengthening democracy
Ferozepur, January 25, 2021: It is a matter of pride for the people of India that we are the citizens of world’s largest democracy. Every vote is important and voters must understand the importance of right to vote for strengthening democracy, said Gurpal Singh Chahal, DC-cum-DEO while presiding over the 11th National Voters Day celebrations.
Earlier, the mobile awareness van was also flagged off in the morning to tour to the various prominent places in the district when ADC Rajdeep Kaur was also present.
DC also administered the oath to use the right to vote to maintain the dignity of democracy for ethical voting during the polls in a transparent, peaceful manner. He also asked the youths to exercise the franchise judiciously and later distributed the photo voter’s smart cards to new enrolled voters.
He said, our Constitution has given us the power which we can use to secure our future and youths can play a vital role to motivate others to use the right to franchise without any fear, intimidation or greed.
Inderjit Joshi Tehsildar Election and SVEEP Nodal Officer Dr. Satinder Singh said democratic country the voting power is immense and January 25 is celebrated every year as National Voters’ Day all over the country.
He also felicitated the officers – Ranjit Singh Bhullar, SDM Zira as best Returing Officer, Komal Arora, DEO, Ashok Behal, Secretary Red Cross, Nodal Officers, Charandeep Kaur, best BLO, Kamal Sharma and Lakhwinder Singh Sweep Nodal Incharge, Amandeep Kaur, Electoral Literacy Club incharge and SVEEP Icons Harish Kumar and three Anganwadi workers in essary competition.
