Corona sampling and vaccination camp held at Kaluwala village near Indo-Pak border
Ferozepur, June 12 2021: The Health Department took the initiative to arrange vaccination camp at the Kaluwala village near Indo-Pak border under the supervision of SMO Mamdot Dr.Bains as a part of campaign against the corona pandemic.
Kaluwala is a naturally created island near Indo-Pak border in 1998 covered with Sutlej river from three sides and one side touching the Pakistan boundary. It is around 10 km from Ferozepur town and people have to cross the river to go to the city on a big boat – ‘beda’. However a temporary capsule bridge is erected for few months when there is a flow of water but the same is removed as during flood like situation it is cut off from India for some time.
In the village, 10 persons were given Corona vaccination and 20 samples of male and female were taken. The health team from time to time visit this remote village for medical checkup and vaccinataion for different disease like skin, as Sutelj Water flows from Pakistan side mixed tanneries residues causing skin diseases to the residents of this village. In today’s team, multipurpose health worker Beant Kaur Kiran CHO Oshan, Asha Worker Gurmit Kaur were present.
